Tour Our Visitors Center

WELCOME! If our friendly greeter at the Reception Desk is too busy to chat and give you these details (visitors often seem to come in bunches!), this brief information will get you started on a quick self-guided tour of our Visitor Center.

MEET our friendly staff.

Visitor Center test kitchen

WATCH busy home economists work in kitchen.

  • First, we'd like you to register in our Guest Book at the Reception Desk. This helps us keep track of how many folks come to visit us each day, where they're from, etc.
  • Note the wall displays for our company's magazines. They include all 12 magazines from our first launch, Country Woman, to our most recent, Light & Tasty (this display is under construction). The displays were created by each magazine's artist to reflect the features and themes of each publication.
  • The Test Kitchen is particularly popular with visitors. This is a working test kitchen, and the Home Economists inside are testing recipes for upcoming issues of our magazines as well as our various cookbooks. Most recipes are tested three times-once by the home cook who shared it with us, again by our Home Economists who present it to a panel for tasting, and a third time if the recipe is selected to be photographed in our studio.
  • Stop at the computer near the Test Kitchen and take a moment to browse on our Web site. You're already "logged on"!
  • Next, pick up your tour catalog at the World Wide Country Tours Travel Office. This company grew from requests by readers who asked, "How can I actually visit some of the country places your magazines feature?" For more information on fully escorted tours, you're welcome to use the "Tour Hotline" telephone in the office.
  • Be sure to take a close look at the innovative birdhouses and feeders in our lounge area. These home-crafted units were entered by our subscribers in our National Birdhouse Contest.
  • Occasionally, our Test Kitchen has some "extra" foods our visitors may sample. These items are placed at the back of the Test Kitchen. Samples of our "Cookie of All Cookies" are available at most times for a small contribution.
  • A 14-minute film of the history of Reiman Publications is shown every half hour on the half hour in the Theater.
  • Finally, you'll surely want to head downstairs to our Country Store Outlet-there's an elevator available, and restrooms are on this lower level as well. "Slightly imperfect" and discontinued items from our catalog are offered at closeout prices. Enjoy!
